Stingrays Swim Programs

FSSC offers 6 different levels of competitive programs. From the swimmer who is new to competition and swimming 25 meters unassisted, to the swimmer working towards National time standards. Volunteering, fundraising and officiating at meets will be expected from each competitive family. As the swimmer progresses through the program, the level of expectation in each of these areas will increase.
Diamond Rays
This is a 45-60 minute 4 times a week program. This group will participate in ALL swim meets; local Southern Region Junior Circuit meets and invitational meets (2 or 3 day meets) throughout Alberta.
Pre-requisite: Must be able to swim 75-100 meters nonstop and must be able to do at least freestyle and backstroke, have some knowledge of breaststroke and be keen to compete.
- Emphasis on stroke technique for all four competitive strokes
- Introduction to competitive starts, turns, and finishes
- Focus on the individual medley
- Develop body strength
- Introduction to 400 metre freestyle and starting to work towards endurance, aerobic base
- Participate in FSSC out of town weekend trip
- Preparation before and during a swim meet
- Responsibility and self-discipline during practice and swim meets
